KS4 Curriculum
Key Stage 4 Curriculum – Years 9 to 11
Students follow a programme of learning, combining the national curriculum, personal and health education, spiritual, moral and social education and vocational expertise with many opportunities to link these to medicine and healthcare.
You will study:
Core subjects
- Mathematics
- English Language
- English Literature
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
Three option subjects
These will be useful and relevant to the student in entering further education or a career in the health industry. These include; Health and Social Care, Child Development, Psychology, a language, Sport Science, Performing Arts, History, and Geography. The courses on offer are a mix of GCSE and Level 2 Tech Awards vocational qualifications.
Additional certification
All students and staff will obtain a full First Aid qualification during their time with us. Students can also obtain additional certification in other courses, such as Sports Leaders Award, Patient Customer Service Training Course, Restarting a Heart Training, Mentoring and Counselling as well as taking part in a number of additional programmes of study as part of the Healthy Lifestyles programme, which includes healthy eating, self-esteem and socialisation, sexual health and mindfulness.
Healthy Lifestyles
Students will learn about Healthy Lifestyles – which will include group and individual healthcare programmes such as Personal Fitness, Healthy Relationships, Mental Health, Mindfulness, Nutritional Planning and Resilience.
Preparation for Adult Life - You will also complete a combination of work readiness classes, work placements, visits and attend employer masterclasses as well as personal finance, C.V. writing, Duke of Edinburgh and study skills.
