Students Participate in the Lessons from Auschwitz Project to Honour Holocaust Memory

Four students from across campus are currently visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp as part of the Lessons from Auschwitz project, organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust. This impactful program aims to help young people keep the memory of the Holocaust alive and ensure its lessons are passed down to future generations.

The project is made up of four key sections. The first includes a conference where the students will have the privilege of meeting a Holocaust survivor and hearing her personal story. Following this, they will visit the ‘State Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau’- Former German Concentration and Extermination Camp. They will also participate in a memorial service to honour the victims. The final two sections focus on creating a project to share their experiences and knowledge with younger year groups, helping to spread awareness and deepen understanding of this dark chapter in history.

This opportunity is an invaluable experience for our students, allowing them to engage with history in a meaningful way while gaining a profound understanding of the suffering endured by the Jewish people during the Holocaust.
