British Science Week Poster Competition

Over the past two weeks, Year 9 students at Scott College have been exploring the fascinating world of fungi as part of a national competition organised by the Microbiology in Schools Advisory Committee.
This initiative, held in celebration of British Science Week, aimed to raise awareness amongst teenagers about human fungal diseases and the growing threat of antifungal drug resistance worldwide.
As part of their studies, students engaged in hands-on experiments using yeast before conducting research and designing informative posters on the topic. Their work was then entered into the competition, with the top five posters selected to represent Scott School at the national level. We eagerly await the results and wish our students the best of luck!
Congratulations to our talented Year 9 students whose posters were chosen as the top entries in their year group. Many students expressed how much they enjoyed learning about fungi—a field of science they hadn't explored before—and found microbiology to be an exciting and thought-provoking subject.
