Year 12 Students Foster Community Connections Through Intergenerational Project

A group of our Year 12 students had the privilege of participating in an Intergenerational Project facilitated by Millfields Inspired. This heartwarming initiative brought together local primary school children and residents of a care home for a day filled with creativity, connection, and joy.
Our students took the lead in organising and facilitating various interactive activities, ensuring meaningful interactions between both young and elderly participants. The day featured biscuit decorating, card making, and necklace crafting, providing opportunities for shared creativity and conversation. Following the activities, the students joined in with the children and residents for a sing-a-long session before helping to serve lunch. The event was a wonderful experience for all involved, fostering meaningful interactions across generations.
Millfields Inspired praised the students’ efforts, stating:
“A big thank you to you all, for your time and commitment to the event you attended with us. The organisation of your activities, setting up, delivery, and clearing up was fantastic. Moreover, the ways in which you engaged with everyone there was brilliant. It was lovely to see you joining in with the singing, and I know both the children and elderly individuals would have appreciated your positive and inclusive outlook!”
This project was a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop their leadership and communication skills while making a meaningful impact on the community. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and enthusiasm in creating such a memorable and inclusive experience for all participants.
We look forward to continuing our involvement in similar initiatives that unite people across generations!
