    About Charlotte:

  • I am the mother of two teenage girls, one of whom attends Scott Medical and Healthcare College
  • I am aware of the challenges facing young people in both their social and educational lives. I have brought up our children in Cornwall and I am aware of the issues that present in a predominately mono cultural, rural environment
  • I was educated at a Cornish primary and secondary school and attended Plymouth for my college education. I have always wanted to specialise in Women’s Health issues and  I graduated with a First class Honours degree in Midwifery from University of Central England in Birmingham 16 years ago
  • I commenced my professional career as a midwife at University Hospitals Plymouth and have continued to develop my professional portfolio becoming Matron five years ago
  • In my professional role, I am keen to develop the expertise of staff and those aiming for a career within the health service. To this end, I place great emphasis on managerial support and utilising opportunities afforded to teach not only within UHP but also at Plymouth University and with the UK Resuscitation Council
  • I feel I can bring my experience of managing budgets within a constrained financial environment, my safeguarding expertise and my autonomy and confidence to challenge to the role of parent governor
