Year 12 Students Attend Holocaust Memorial Day Conference at Exeter University

Thirteen of our Year 12 students were selected to represent our school at the Holocaust Memorial Day Conference at Exeter University, joining students from three other schools.

The students had the privilege of hearing from Rosemary Schonfeld, a second-generation Holocaust survivor, who shared the moving story of her Aunt Relly. Relly survived both the Holocaust and the Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia, and Rosemary's speech offered a deeply personal account of the lasting effects these events have had on her family.

After the speech, the students participated in a lecture that explored how the Holocaust is portrayed in art and cinema, gaining valuable insights into how different mediums reflect the history and impact of the Holocaust.

They also had the chance to hear from experts in the field, who discussed the ongoing study of the Holocaust and reflected on the experiences of survivors. This unique and meaningful experience provided our students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and engage more deeply with the history they are studying.
