Year 12 students were given a glimpse into life as an undergraduate at Plymouth University when they attended a Health Taster Day on 16 November. They had the chance to listen to lecturers discuss the courses available to them at the university and to take part in workshops to learn a little more about each course.

Well done to Mrs Cousins’ tutor group who raised money for BBC Children in Need on Friday 16 November in lots of inventive ways including holding a book sale, a Guess the Number of Sweets challenge and Name the Pudsey Bear!
Year 9 Sports Science students have visited City College to get a better idea of what a Sports Therapy and Injury Rehabilitation Foundation Degree entails. The students got to see second-year university students giving real medical treatments to the public. They saw lots of different chronic and acute injuries being treated using various methods which included soft tissue therapy, electrotherapy, taping and joint mobilization. Mr Broomfield said: “Our students came away from the experience very inspired and have said that this opportunity has created another avenue for them to explore on their journey to becoming a physiotherapist. “
Well done to Mrs Mann who taught more than 160 of our students CPR by the end of the British Heart Foundation’s Restart A Heart day and then went on to teach 30 Girl Guides and their leaders. Her efforts were recognised with an article in the Plymouth Chronicle.
Thank you to Dr Alan Holman – a practising GP in Plymouth – who came into school to talk to Year 12 and Year 9 and 10 students about getting into General Practice. A fascinating session for our students and real glimpse in to life as a GP in Plymouth .
