A studio school is a mainstream state school where classroom-based learning and the world of work are more closely integrated. It is a new approach blending traditional teaching with real project-based learning and work experience, in partnership with local employers, leading to GCSEs in English, maths and science, vocational qualifications and real employment opportunities. As well as post-16 A level and vocational qualifications.
These small schools are designed for 13-19 year-olds of all abilities for up to 375 students. Working closely with local employers and the universities, studios schools offer work experience linked directly to employment opportunities in Plymouth.
Students work in smaller groups with individual support from a personal coach who will meet with them to develop their own personalised learning plan and tailor their curriculum to their individual needs and aspirations.
Scott College is a small school from Year 9 to Year 13 with up to 75 students in each year group.
The school is sponsored by Stoke Damerel Community College one of the city’s most popular and over-subscribed schools which is gaining a national reputation for its Dementia Project work
